Activities & Awareness Sessions
Are the Activities regularly checked against safety regulations?
All activities are fully risk assessed with relevant safety procedures and insurance. Qualified instructors deliver the activities.
How many leaders/Adults need to accompany the group?
Dependant on the activity we require 1 member of staff per 10 young people. When bookings are placed this is discussed with the lead person making the booking.
Who will be supervising the children?
Staff from the Early Action Hub will be supervising the children, along with the instructors for the activity that is taking place.
What are your start and end times during the day?
8am to 4pm – this is flexible dependant on the activity
Do you provide food/ refreshments during the day?
We require young people to bring a packed lunch and drinks with them.
How long does an activity session last?
Dependant on the activity, the sessions generally last between 4 and 6 hours. The school activity days starts at 9.30am and finishes at 2.30pm to allow children and staff to get back to school. Again this can be flexible.
What if a child has Disabilities or special requirements?
Prior to any booking, staff need to be made aware of any disabilities or special requirements, a risk assessment will then be put in place on an individual basis.
Do you run a school holiday programme?
Dependant on the funding that we have available, we will run activity days during the summer holiday period, please keep visiting the website for further information of these sessions.
What’s the cost for the school activity days?
We ask for a donation of £5 per child for a full day activities, this will need to be paid via bank transfer 7 days prior to the activity day. *Please note that if a booking is confirmed and on the day of the booking you fail to attend, then you will be required to pay for the instructor hire which is £425. All of this information will be sent out with all of the relevant paperwork prior to the activity day.
What clothing requirements should the child wear, will they need a second set of clothes for water or muddy activities?
We require the young person to wear suitable outdoor clothing, no open shoes (sandals or flip flops) and also warm clothing is advised during the colder months. We advise that children and staff wear layers of clothing to be removed or added dependant on the weather conditions. It is advisable to bring a second change of clothes and sun cream.
Organisation & Facilities
Can I visit before I come to see the location and facilities?
This can only be facilitated for school engagement day bookings at our designated site in Calderdale.
What disabled facilities do you have in place?
At this present time our main site does not accommodate wheelchair access, we do work with partners who offer programmes for young people with disabilities. This can be discussed on an individual basis
Is there anywhere safe to keep valuables?
The Early Action hub cannot accept liability for the loss or damage of property, therefore please do not bring large amounts of cash, jewellery or other valuables with you to any of the activity sessions provided.
Do you offer pick up/drop off travel transport?
No transport is provided on the school activity days, transport will be provided for some activities that are delivered by the early action hub, this is arrange on an individual basis
What Insurance do you have?
Insurance is in place for all of the activities that are provided, if a school requires any further information on this, please mention it at the time of the booking.
Are staff DBS or PVG checked?
All staff working with young people are fully DBS checked. Any volunteers within the group will be fully supervised by a member of staff who is DBS checked.
Where is the EAH located and how do I get there?
The site location is disclosed upon booking as the location can vary, our main site is based in Calderdale.
Does a Child need to bring any pocket money?
There are no requirements for a child to bring any money. You will be advised if this changes dependant on the activity and location.
Is there any paperwork to complete?
All paperwork for all bookings will be sent out after the booking is confirmed, we will require all paperwork to be returned 7 days prior to attending.
